Smooth Surface Units

NORD smooth surface units are ideal for applications where sanitation and cleanliness is essential, such as food and beverage, waste water treatment, pharmaceuticals, and poultry and meat processing. Smooth surface motors are made from a high-strength, naturally corrosion resistant aluminum alloy and can be configured with options such as potted terminal boxes, condensation drain holes, and space heaters for low maintenance.

The smooth surface motor series can be supplied with a variety of protective coatings and finishes. These gear units offer include a range of NORDBLOC.1 Inline Gear Units, 93.1 Series Gear Units, and MINICASETM Gear Units.

IE5+ Ultra High-Efficiency Synchronous Motors

The new generation of NORD IE5+ synchronous motors feature a compact, hygienic design with smooth surfaces for high corrosion resistance and easy cleaning (TENV design) or a finned version for optimized heat dissipation (TEFC design). These motors are available with IP69K surface treatment (when supplied as a complete gear unit). A motor-integrated encoder comes standard and an integrated mechanical brake is optional.

SMI worm gear units provide a high power density and are extremely compact. They feature low-noise torque transmission, and due to their simple but effective design, they provide considerable installation space advantages in comparison with other gear unit types. MINICASE worm gear units are available in both smooth surface and closed surface versions.

Helical Worm Gear Units

NORD's worm gear units lie within a one-piece die-cast aluminum housing guaranteeing maximum strength and rigidity with low weight. These units have a wide power range from 0.12 to 1.1 kW and an output torque of up to 885 lb-in. Their wide range of speed ratios (from 5.37:1 up to 330:1) enables optimum adaptation to any customer requirements, and especially suits them to handle the toughest requirements in the bakery industry.
