The solution:
- Induction motors have high internal inertia. This makes them easier to control than traditional servo solutions, which must be adapted to the end-of-line (EoL) application using a high gear ratio. Additional advantages: Induction motors produce low vibration, reduce the risk of damage to the load or machine, and can be combined with various types of gearboxes and frequency converters.
- Decentralized frequency converters speed up commissioning and simplify maintenance. With a modular drive concept, redesigns or expansions of the system architecture are possible at any time. The result: reduced costs, greater efficiency, and easy scalability.

Which gear units can you use?
You have access to NORD’s high-performance helical, bevel, and worm gear units. They enable torques up to 100,000 Nm and gear ratios up to 14,340.31:1.

The future version of the NORDAC ON can be integrated into a safety-related application within an existing Industrial Ethernet network via PROFIsafe or FSoE. The desired Industrial Ethernet dialect is simply configured during commissioning. Stand-alone operation is also possible, for example for a single-axis machine. In this case, the safety-related digital inputs and outputs of the NORDAC ON can also be used to integrate safety-related peripheral components/functions such as E-Stop, Reset, and door interlocks. When integrated into the safety controller via PROFIsafe or FSoE, the status of the safe digital inputs and outputs can be transmitted from the device to the controller and vice versa.
